Why do NFL teams have battle songs

ran NFL: These are the moderators and commentators for the 2020/21 season

The 101st season of the NFL is entering the home straight - despite the corona pandemic. But who is actually in the team of moderators and commentators at "ran NFL" in the 2020/21 NFL season? We introduce you to the entire team.

He is the "ran NFL" veteran: Jan Stecker. The former football player (Red Barons Cologne and Cologne Crocodiles) has been on board as an expert in NFL broadcasts since the broadcasts began in 2012. Since 2015 he has moderated and commented on the “ran NFL” broadcasts on ProSieben MAXX.

Before he started as a presenter at "ran NFL", he gained TV experience reporting on various (sports) events. The following “plug-in check” of an Audi TTS at “Abenteuer Auto”, which “Icke” Dommisch likes to unpack during football broadcasts, is legendary:

Volker Schenk

Just like Jan Stecker, Volker Schenk was once an active footballer in Germany - for the Munich Cowboys, where he later also worked as a trainer, and for Frankfurt Galaxy. In 2000 he was runner-up with the German national team.

After his active career, he was stadium announcer for Frankfurt Universe and the Braunschweig Lions and worked on television broadcasts for broadcasters and providers such as Eurosport and DAZN. Since 2014 he has been part of the "ran NFL" team.

Patrick Esume

A year later as Schenk, Patrick Esume found his way to "ran NFL" - and has since developed into the show's defining figure under the nickname "Coach". His secret recipe: razor-sharp analyzes combined with a sense of humor that is unparalleled in sports reporting.

>> Fast sayings and analyzes: This is how NFL expert Patrick Esume ticks <<

Esume's football vita is the most impressive compared to that of his fellow moderators: from 1992 to 2000 he was active as cornerback and safety officer for various Hamburg clubs (including the Blue Devils), and won the German Bowl twice and the Eurobowl three times. He later continued his success as a coach - and won the European title with the French national team in 2018. He was allowed to sniff NFL air as an assistant coach in the training camps of the Oakland Raiders, Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles. Since 2015 he has been under contract with "ran NFL" as an expert and commentator.

Carsten Spengemann

Carsten Spengemann is not only known for American football. He became known as an actor through his role in the daily soap "Verbotene Liebe" from 1999 to 2003 and has since appeared alongside Michelle Hunziker as the presenter of "Deutschland sucht den Superstar".

As a fan of the Miami Dolphins and - in terms of football - the former Bundesliga dinosaur Hamburger SV, Spengemann is not necessarily used to success. After all: As a former football player, he doesn’t cut a bad figure at “ran NFL”.

Bjorn Werner

In the ranks of the "ran NFL" presenters and commentators, Björn Werner is the only one who can look back on a past as an active player in the NFL. Picked 24th in the NFL draft by the Indianapolis Colts in 2013 as a Florida State University graduate, he wore the franchise's jersey for two years. Although he was retrained from defensive end to outside linebacker, he made a name for himself with good performances. His dismissal after the 2015 season was all the more surprising.

On May 11, 2016 Werner signed a contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars, but was released before the beginning of the following regular season. During a "ran NFL" live broadcast on January 15, 2017, he announced the end of his career. The reason he named his knees, which were no longer able to withstand the strain. From then on he concentrated on his work as an expert at "ran NFL" and his company "Gridiron Sports", which helps young football talents jump from high school to college. Together with Patrick Esume he also runs the podcast "Football Bromance".

Christoph "Icke" Dommisch

Christoph Dommisch is the secret star of "ran NFL" - even though he is not responsible for accompanying the game. As a “Netman”, Dommisch, who is only called “Icke” by everyone, has had a look at everything that happens on the sidelines since 2015: from the results of other games, to topics such as the players' wives of the NFL stars, to Incorporating audience reactions and social media activities into the show.

With this job profile, it fits all too well into the picture that “Icke”, who incidentally got his nickname because of his Berlin origins and his dialect, is a bird of paradise of the very first class: His long blonde mane paired with the always flashy outfits are from “ran NFL “It has been a long time without it.

Max Zielke

Max Zielke is also a social media reporter. However, Zielke often “takes to the streets” - for example to catch votes from the players shortly after the NFL's “London Games” whistle. Just like Esume and Werner, Dommisch and Zielke decided to launch a podcast. In “Sport Support”, the two of them take a not always serious look at the hustle and bustle in the world of sports and not only look at the big stories.

Uwe Morawe

Uwe Morawe studied German studies and history at the University of Göttingen, but a path into the world of sports and media emerged early on. Starting with NDR, he went to Radio FFN and then to Sat.1. From 1995 to 2013 he worked for Sport1, which was still called "DSF" at the time, and in between for Laola and Arena. Morawe has been with the ProSieben MAXX TV station since September 2015, for which he comments on some NFL games on “ran NFL”.

Roman Motzkus

Now let's get back to a man who has a football history. Roman Motzkus once played in the position of wide receiver and tight end for the Berlin Adlers and was German champion three times in a row from 1989 to 1991. With 102 touchdowns, he is the club's all-time top scorer.

As PR director (1989 to 1999, Berlin Thunder), stadium announcer (since 2004, Berlin Adler) and chairman of the administrative board (since 2006, Berlin Adler), he is still associated with American football today. The capital city resident prevailed in the commentator casting in 2015 and has supported the “ran NFL” team with his expertise ever since.

Mattis Oberbach

As the winner of the 2017 # lassmichran commentator casting, Mattis Oberbach made his “ran NFL” debut in September of that year in a duel between the Baltimore Ravens and the Cincinnati Bengals. Oberbach studied sports journalism and was once an active American football player.

Markus Krawinkel

Markus Krawinkel has also been in the "ran NFL" boat since 2017. He has always had a weakness for US sports for Krawinkel. He made a name for himself as a basketball commentator for SPOX, Sky and Magenta Sport, among others.
