How can I score points in computer science?

Access

Access to the Applied Computer Science master’s degree requires a university degree or an equivalent degree with an overall grade of 2.7 or better in a related degree.

Related courses of study are all courses of study in the field of computer science (in particular bioinformatics, computer and communication technologies, informatics, engineering informatics / technical informatics, media informatics, medical informatics, software systems science, business informatics), provided that these are in addition to an extensive degree in applied informatics and computer science as well as their Basics (at least 90 ECTS points including a thesis in Applied Computer Science or Computer Science) also include the study of application subjects to the extent of at least 18 ECTS points. The examination board will decide on a case-by-case basis whether the course is considered related in this sense.

One master’s degree — two forms

Based on the scope of your bachelor's degree, you will study either in the master's with 120 or 90 ECTS points.

Master's degree with 120 ECTS points

The 4-semester Master’s degree in Applied Computer Science is designed as a consecutive, in-depth master’s degree that builds on a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Computer Science or a related degree with at least 180 ECTS points.

Master's degree with 90 ECTS points

The applied computer science courses at the University of Bamberg were switched from 210 ECTS points to 180 ECTS points in the winter semester 2016/17 and from 90 ECTS points to 120 ECTS points in the master’s. In the transition phase, the previous 3-semester 90 ECTS master’s course will be continued and enrollment for it is still possible (Note: last enrollment possible for winter semester 2021/22).
