Entry into cosmetics group ?? How???
Hey
So, I have an elementary question: what do you have to study in order to get into the development of new products, marketing or evaluation in a cosmetics company, for example?
I would also be interested in whether someone knows whether it makes more sense to go into advertising to study media design or media sciences or whether it is safer to train as an advertising clerk ....

"Advertising" is a bit unspecific. What exactly do you want to do "in advertising"? Graphic design, marketing, sales, management, copywriter ....?

To the first question: business administration, marketing, statistics, communication science or similar humanities courses.

Hello,

I'm also interested in how to get into product development in a cosmetics company. Do you have to study chemistry for this or is there an option with nutritional science or food technology?

Mรผnster has one (if not the most renowned) marketing focus in Germany and they also have a lot of contact with cosmetic companies.
Re: Entry into cosmetics group ?? How???
My strategy for a career in the cosmetics group was: study business administration with a focus on marketing, apply to the cosmetics group. However, that was a few years ago.
Nowadays it is certainly a little more difficult:
you should know what you want specifically: develop products yourself (laboratory - i.e. study chemistry), market products (marketing - i.e. business administration) or sell products (you can even do this without studying).
Suggestion: ask people who have a position that comes close to your desired position and decide what you really want. Afterwards, I recommend a coach or personal mentor to determine your career strategy. Internships are the best you can do to see if you really like it. A marketing career does not mean making colorful pictures, it involves a lot of strategy and controlling. I wish you success!

Hello! there is a course that is specially tailored to a later position, for example in product development or quality assurance of cosmetic products. is called "technology of cosmetics and detergents" and you can currently only study at the hs owl (formerly fh lippe and hรถxter) and lemgo.
I did it and can now say that you will not get a better foundation anywhere. and our course is also very well regarded in the relatively small cosmetics industry.

In relation to the initial posting: I have a friend who started at Douglas as a qualified psychologist (in the area of โ€‹โ€‹customer satisfaction, surveys, training courses, ...).

Hello Nela,

I am interested in studying detergent and cosmetics technology at the hs-owl. What was your experience there? How difficult is the course? How satisfied were you with the professors and the university in general? How much free time was there and how were the other students?

I would really like it if I could learn a little more about it because there is very little to be found about it. Perhaps there are more people who have had experience with it and would like to write something about it.

friendly greetings to everyone

Hello everyone ...

I am also interested in the Cosmetics and Detergent Technology course.
I have just successfully completed my training in cosmetology and am considering whether I should start training as a chemical laboratory technician or the course ???

And another question ... does someone know what you earn after completing your degree when you are employed in a cosmetics company in the field of research and development.

Looking forward to your replies

Re: Entry into cosmetics group ?? How???
Hello momo,
the earnings depend on the position you want to hold. This in turn depends on your training - studies, training, both? Internships ?.

In general, you earn very, very well in chemistry (cosmetics).

Suggestion: look for 2-3 contacts on xing who do something similar to what you would like to do, contact them and ask them for help, telephone interviews or the like. Also: Contact the HR departments of companies: Henkel & Schwarzkopf, Beiersdorf etc.

The general rule is: Look where you want to go and ask people who are there !!!
This is how you build your career ladder wherever you want!

Important: ask yourself what you want !!!!
More likely to develop eco-cosmetics (huge future market!) But possibly with a smaller company (Schoeller, Lavera) and probably lower earnings but "Sinn" or rather with a giant like Beiersdorf (Nivea), where you can definitely earn more.

and: career advice at the university or from a freelance career advisor!
