Would you like to learn Kurdish in order to improve your career prospects?
Hello,

I will (hopefully) have my Abitur in a year. I have basic knowledge of Kurdish. I could talk to Kurds without any problems. I also like the Kurdish language very much. But is it even worth learning the Kurdish language or should I rather learn a "more important" language. Do I have better job prospects if I speak Kurdish?
Well, not many people can speak this language because it is quite difficult.

What do you all mean?

If you have a job in which you can use Kurdish in the future, then you have better career prospects. Otherwise not.

Did you want to hear that now? ;-)

Doesn't bring you any professional advantages, as this is not the official language in any country. If so, then you should learn an officially used national language. In addition, there are certainly enough people in Germany who, because of their origins, have a better knowledge of Kurdish than you have before.

Nevertheless, I would find it a shame for myself if I let a language with a basic knowledge of which I can wither so easily. You can still learn a "usual" language at the same time, but you can still train yourself in Kurdish.

What a question. You have to know this. E.g. whether you would only learn Kurdish at the expense of another language. Whether it brings anything depends on the environment. If you become a doctor and open a practice in a city where many people live who speak Kurdish (and bad German), that would be a unique selling point for the practice and useful, or if you want to become a lawyer, provided you settle there, where many Kurds live. But if you want to get a job in the municipal administration in Glauchau, Kurdish will probably be of no use to you, as Saxon would make more sense. You have to know that.
I understand it to mean that you are aiming for a level of language acquisition that allows you to communicate with Kurds and that you do not want to become a translator? That would be something else.

I would only learn Kurdish if there really should be a state of Kurdistan ..

There is already an (autonomous) Kurdish state. However, there will probably be an independent Kurdistan on February 23, 2012. Do you think my career prospects would be better, because knowledge of foreign languages should actually be very important.

Where are you founding your independent Kurdistan?

Northern Iraq, maybe?
The country has already completely disintegrated anyway.
