The best thing about Ooty is undoubtedly its attractiveness and that undisturbed tranquility that can only be found far away from the busy city life. The green hills, mountain streams and majestic waterfalls make Ooty the proverbial paradise on earth. Of course there are also some particularly noteworthy tourist attractions in this south Indian town.

Especially in the southern part of India, Ooty is known as a popular summer residence. The place did not get its current name until the colonial era, because the pronunciation of its original name "Udhagamandalam" was simply too difficult for the British colonial rulers. So the name was shortened to simple "Ooty" and has stayed the same ever since.

A trip to Ooty takes vacationers to a lush green paradise in the “Blue Mountains”, the Nilgiris. Its fertile slopes, on which pears, plums, eucalyptus and pine trees thrive, have inspired many Bollywood films.
